The Isle of Skye is the largest of the Inner Hebrides off the West coast of Scotland. Known in Gaelic song and poetry as 'Eilean a' Cheo' or 'The Misty Isle' it is a wild and rugged landscape of mountains, lochs and moorland blasted by extreme weather and ever changing light. The landscape bears witness to human habitation for many millennia with stark evidence of the clearances. This series of winter photographs were taken at an abandoned church in Strath Suardal and highlight the rich textures of the island and its habitation.
